A Hopkinsville man was arrested Tuesday morning for allegedly stealing a vehicle from an auto dealership in Hopkinsville. Hopkinsville Police say 38-year old Ashley Thomas used his driver’s license to take the car from Superior Auto for a test drive and then did not return it. The car dealership’s owner then filed a report with Hopkinsville Police that the vehicle had been stolen.
After receiving information that Thomas lived on Old Major Lane near Cadiz Road, officers went to the home and found the vehicle discretely parked behind an outdoor shed approximately 100 feet behind the residence. When officers made contact with Thomas at the home, he reportedly stated he had attempted to return the vehicle but could not due to the business being closed.
Thomas was booked into the Christian County Jail charged with Receiving Stolen Property $10,000 or More.
