The family of a man killed in an industrial accident in Hopkinsville in October 2015 has been awarded more than $13 million.
Court records indicate a civil trial began in Christian Circuit Court before Judge John Atkins on Monday, April 9 in the death case of Gregory Engleman, who was 46 years old when he was killed.
Engleman, of Vine Grove, Kentucky, was killed on October 26, 2015 at Martinrea on Frank Yost Lane when police reported he made a delivery to the factory and was working on the back of a semi-trailer moving some equipment. Something allegedly went wrong and 15,000 pounds of steel wire turned over and fell on him. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Christian County Deputy Coroner Mike Stokes.
Attorneys on both sides presented their closing arguments in Christian Circuit Court Monday. Court records indicate the jury found for the plaintiff and awarded Engleman’s estate, which includes his wife and two teenage sons, a total of around $13.5 millions.
