Making Memories Cooking Tour Visits LBL Region

More than twenty people from Missouri with the Making Memories tour company visited western Kentucky and Tennessee over the weekend to participate in the “Southern Cooks Tour”.

Friends of Land Between the Lakes Director of Outreach and Sustainability Jennifer Wheatley says they met the group at a travel show and sold a representative with the Making Memories group a tour to this region.

Wheatley adds it was a pleasure to have the group here in the area to experience some of our southern food and customs.

The group also learned to “How to Make a Kentucky Hot Brown” at Lake Barkley State Resort Park; tasted biscuits with sorghum, honey and strawberry jam from Dark Fire Farms in Dover, Tennessee; experinence different styles of cornbread in Parks, Tennessee; traveled through a progressive dinner at the Blue Heron in Cadiz, Reva’s and the Cadiz Antique mall Ice Cream Parlor, all in Cadiz; enjoyed meals from the Brass Lantern in Laurora; and toured the Trail of Tears in Hopkinsville, and the Elk and Bison Prairie at Land Between the Lakes.
