Police have released the identity of the shooting victim killed on Franklin Street in Clarksville Sunday night. Clarksville Police spokesman Jim Knoll says the woman’s name is 22-year old Taren Lyles of Clarksville.
According to Knoll, says 911 received several calls about shots fired in the area of Franklin Street around 8:30 p.m. When officers arrived they found a car off the roadway in a field by Franklin and 11th streets. They found Lyles fatally shot inside the car, along with her two young children strapped into their car seats, in the back seat of the vehicle.
Lyles was transported from the scene and later pronounced decease at Tennova Medical Center in Clarksville. Knoll says the children were unharmed despite the multiple rounds shot into the vehicle. He adds the children, whose ages are unknown at this time, are now staying with family members.
Police are continuing to interview witnesses and still working to identify the suspects. Anyone with information, whether it seems minor or irrelevant, are asked to contact the TIPSLINE at (931) 645-8477.
