A Hopkinsville man was hurt when his horse and buggy hit a utility pole support wire in Pembroke Thursday morning.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office reports 39-year old Amos Stoltzfus was traveling north on South Main Street in a horse and buggy shortly before 7:30 a.m., and was crossing the railroad track when the horse got spooked when a vehicle passed it. Deputies say the horse took off toward the intersection of South Main Street and Nashville Street where Stoltzfus was able to turn the horse to the left and off the road where it hit a utility pole support wire. The impact caused Stoltzfus to hit his head on the roof of the buggy.

Stoltzfus was transported by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment. His passenger, 39-year old Jacob Stoltzfus was not hurt in the accident, according to the report.
