A Clarksville man, who authorities say was driving the wrong way on two one-way streets in Hopkinsville, is facing numerous charges after he allegedly fled from police.
According to the report, 18-year old Jeremiah Gain was observed by a Christian County Sheriff’s deputy driving in the wrong direction on South Main Street and on South Virginia Street, which are one-way streets. The deputy says after he committed a couple of traffic violations, he activated his emergency equipment to make a traffic stop but Gain accelerated. He indicates Gain continued to flee until he reached East 9th Street and finally stopped at McLean Avenue due to a flat tire. Gain and his two passengers were then detained.
Upon contact, deputies say they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. After a K-9 alerted on the vehicle, a search was conducted where deputies reportedly found a bag of suspected marijuana under the front drivers seat and loose marijuana in the center console, as well as a marijuana bong.
Gain was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with 1st Degree Fleeing or Evading Police, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Operating on a Suspended or Revoked Driver’s License, Reckless Driving, and several traffic-related offenses.
