Christian County Public Schools’ Transportation Director Mike Brumley recently received a high honor and was recognized on a state level for his achievements.
Chief Operations Officer Brad Hawkins says Brumley received recognition this summer by the Kentucky Department of Education Student Transportation Association.
He notes Brumley came to the district nine years ago and has really done an excellent job improving transportation in the district.
Brumley says he would be remiss if he didn’t thank the people that had made this recognition possible because it can’t be done by one person.
However, he adds the most important thing to him is the safety of students.
During the meeting, District Assessment Coordinator Tracey Leath presented a broad overview of the new accountability system. She tells the News Edge there are pieces of the new accountability system that the public will recognize from the former system.
She adds there will also be some new components.
The goal of the new accountability system is to level the playing field for all schools across the state.
Leath says some of the pieces of the new accountability system will be operational this school year and other pieces will roll in and be more expanded in 2019-20.
The next special board meeting/workshop will be Thursday evening, August 2, at 6:00.
