The 138th annual Fancy Farm Picnic will be held in Graves County at St. Jerome Catholic Church Saturday. The event is a fundraiser for the church in which thousands of visitors attend to heckle and support political speakers, enjoy barbecue and play games.

Attorney General Andy Beshear, thus far, is the only Democratic candidate to officially file to run for Kentucky’s Governor seat. It’s unknown if Republican Governor Matt Bevin will attend the Fancy Farm event. Rumors and speculation have swirled that current Secretary of State Allison Lundergan Grimes may run for the seat. However, when asked by the News Edge during a stop in Cadiz Thursday about a possible run for the seat, Grimes was tight lipped and said the support is out there but right now she’s focused on doing the job she loves as Secretary of State.

She is also focusing on the upcoming November General Election and getting people to vote.

Grimes also told the News Edge the new Kentucky Republican 6% tax plan is hurting everyone in Kentucky, including the St. Jerome Parrish fundraising picnic, and even 5k runs to charitable games.
