School Board Members Hear Discipline Data Report

District Discipline Administrator Kim Stevenson

Christian County Board of Education members were presented the 2017-2018 end of the year student discipline data report during Thursday night’s special called meeting.

District Discipline Administrator Kim Stevenson presented the data and says there were 1,474 students that have gone to in-school suspensions and/or SOS in the 2017-18 school year.

Out of school suspensions totaled 559 students, according to Stevenson.

She says student arrests in the district increased by one this past school year.

Stevenson says the top infractions in the district were disruptive behavior, failure to follow directives and profanity/vulgarity, and disrespectful behavior. She notes the top consequences data shows they are keeping more students in schools for instruction than in previous school years.

In agenda action items, board members approved by a vote of 4-0 a BG-1 for a replacement pool air handler at Hopkinsville High School for an amount of $140,000. Board member Lindsey Clark was absent from the special called meeting.

The next regular school board meeting will be Thursday evening, August 16, at 6:00.
