One of four Crofton firefighters charged in connection to an arson and burglary that occurred in Crofton in August 2017 entered a guilty plea in Christian Circuit Court Friday morning.
According to court records, Dylan Hodge appeared before Judge John Atkins and pled guilty to a lesser charge of second degree facilitation to arson, after he was originally charged with 2nd Degree Arson. By taking the plea deal, a five-year sentence was diverted to probation.
Earlier this month, Judge Atkins granted a motion filed by former firefighter Dakota Oglesby to sever his case from the other firefighters, former chief Jeremy Marlar and Glen McGee, due to his attorney, Robert Haggard citing ongoing medical tests and health issues. Oglesby is charged with 2nd Degree Arson and 3rd Degree Burglary.
Meanwhile, court records indicate Marlar and McGee also appeared in Christian Circuit Court Friday morning at 11:30 regarding a 404B motion filed by the Commonwealth’s Attorney, meaning they presented evidence of prior bad acts. Judge Atkins is taking the motion under advisement until Monday.
Marlar and McGee are charged with 1st Degree Official Misconduct and 2nd Degree Arson. McGee faces an additional charge of 3rd Degree Burglary. Their trial is set to begin Monday.
The firefighters were charged in connection to setting a vacant building on fire in Crofton in August 2017.
