Corn Yield Entries Sought As Harvest Begins

With the corn harvest getting underway in Western Kentucky, county extension agents will be ready to assist farmers who may want to enter yield contests.

Trigg County Agriculture Extension Agent Graham Cofield says some of the early reports indicate the corn crop is looking good, but the moisture is still high.

Yield contests are held for the state of Kentucky for both irrigated and non-irrigated corn. The winners from Kentucky are recognized during the annual Kentucky Commodity Conference in Bowling Green. The Kentucky winning entries are also submitted to compete on the national level.
