Ten young ladies will be participating in the 2019 Distinguished Young Women of Christian County Scholarship Program this weekend. Holly Hampton with the Distinguished Young Women of Christian County says in a release each participant will compete in five categories: talent, fitness, interview, scholastics, and self-expression. The ten young ladies will be competing for over $6,000 in cash scholarships.
The young woman selected as the 2019 Distinguished Young Woman of Christian County will then go on to participate in the Distinguished Young Woman of Kentucky in January 2019. The young lady chosen at the state level will represent Kentucky and June 2019 in Mobile, Alabama to compete for the title of Distinguished Young Woman of America, for a share of more than $125,000 in chase scholarships and millions in college scholarships.
The Distinguished Young Women of Christian County Scholarship Program is an official preliminary of Distinguished Young Women of America, the oldest and largest scholarship program for high school senior females of its type. Since 1958, the program has awarded more than $92 million in cash scholarships and provided thousands of young ladies with college scholarships and to colleges and universities across the nation. Each year, Distinguished Young Women makes available more than $52 million in scholarship opportunities to high school senior women.
The Distinguished Young Women of Christian County Scholarship Program will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 at the Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds Convention Center located on Richard Street. Tickets for the event are $10 and will available at the door prior to the event from one of the local participants.
