The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that Kirby Wallace is in custody.
During a news conference, Mongomery County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Sandra Brandon says 53-year old Wallace was taken into custody near the Montgomery-Stewart County line by Henry County Sheriff Monte Bellew.
Sheriff Bellew says a hot zone had been established and he and Corporal Stacy Bostick, along with his tracking dog, were able to get a good direction of travel around 2:00 or 3:00 Friday morning. He says they went into a wooded area and found two deer stands where they could get up in an elevated position to cover a larger area. Sheriff Belew says he spotted someone moving around 10:15 a.m. Once the man came within 40 yards of him, he was able to identify him as Wallace.
Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson says it’s a relief Wallace is in custody.
