A 23-year old passenger is in extremely critical condition and the driver was charged with DUI after a vehicle crashed into a guardrail in Clarksville Thursday night.

Clarksville Police spokesman Jim Knoll says officers responded to the single-vehicle wreck around 10:45 p.m. at McClardy Road when 32-year old Joshua Crouch of Clarksville was driving north on McClardy Road when at the intersection of Whitt Lane his pickup truck went off the side of the road and hit a guardrail. The truck then crossed the road and came to rest in a yard. Knoll indicates the passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, hit the windshield and was ejected through the open passenger side window.

According to Knoll, the 23-year old man was flown by Lifeflight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Crouch was taken by ambulance to Tennova Medical Center in Clarksville where he was treated for a shoulder injury and then booked into the Montgomery County Jail charged with DUI and Vehicular Assault.
