A Hopkinsville man is in jail after reportedly assaulting his mother and a police officer Saturday morning.
According to a report from Hopkinsville Police, they were called out to a home on Sanderson Drive where 34-year old Desmond Poindexter assaulted his mother. Gapp went inside to speak with Poindexter, but he refused to provide any information. When Gapp went to arrest Poindexter, he pushed him in the chest, and while in handcuffs he pulled away from Gapp and other officers and proceeded to kick Gapp in the legs.
Poindexter was charged with 4th-degree assault, resisting arrest, 3rd-degree criminal mischief, and 3rd-degree assault to a police officer. He is lodged in the Christian County Jail, where he is listed as a fugitive from another state according to their website.
