A Hopkinsville woman was cited to court for DUI and wanton endangerment charges after she and her daughter were injured when she crashed her moped on Canton Street Monday afternoon.

35-year old Kristle Yearicks was driving westbound on Canton Pike approaching the 3600 block when she stated to officers she saw a vehicle moving slowly enter the roadway. Yearicks reportedly went into the parking lot at Indian Hills Plaza to cut through traffic where she lost control of the moped and hit the pavement in front of Davo’s Restaurant, causing the bike to fall over and eject her and her 7-year old daughter. Police say Yearicks broke her right leg and sustained road rash, while her 7-year old daughter also suffered road rash.

According to the report, police also found small bottles of unopened Fireball liquor near the moped and a bystander told officers he smelled alcohol on the Yearicks when he tried to help her. Officers say Yearicks admitted to taking a shot about 30 minutes prior to driving the moped.

Yearicks was transported by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment and cited to court due to her injuries for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol with aggravating circumstances, first-degree wanton endangerment, and no moped/operator’s license.
