Police say a disturbance investigation led to charges against a Hopkinsville man after he fled when an officer tried to detain him.
Hopkinsville Police report an officer responded to the 1800 block of South Virginia Street shortly before 7:00 Tuesday night and saw 26-year old Anthony Buckner walking out from behind a residence where he doesn’t live and with the property owners not at home. When the officer tried to get Buckner’s identification, he reportedly refused. Police say when the officer tried to detain Buckner he ran across two busy lanes of traffic narrowing missing two vehicles. After a short foot pursuit, Buckner was taken into custody and began acting disorderly.
Buckner was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with fleeing or evading on foot and disorderly conduct. In addition, Buckner was served active warrants for a parole violation, contempt of court, second-degree escape, and failure to appear.
