A pursuit with troopers in Christian County Wednesday afternoon landed a Clarksville man behind bars facing a slew of charges, including wanton endangerment and trafficking drugs.
Kentucky State Police say the pursuit began around 5:40 p.m. after a trooper saw a car traveling southbound on US 41, outside of Hopkinsville. When the trooper initiated his emergency equipment the driver of the vehicle, later identified as 29-year old Kevin Gilmore, accelerated and turned onto the Martin Luther King bypass. The pursuit continued onto Fort Campbell Boulevard until Gilmore’s vehicle hit a car driven by Whitley Grace of Pembroke. After Gilmore’s car became disabled, he fled on foot but was apprehended by the trooper and taken into custody without further incident. Police say Grace was later transferred to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
Gilmore was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with two counts of 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment of a Police Officer, his second offense for trafficking cocaine greater or equal to four grams, trafficking heroin, fleeing or evading police on foot and in a motor vehicle, and multiple other charges.
