A Clarksville man is in custody after a domestic homicide that occurred on Bellamy Lane over the weekend.
Clarksville Police Public Information Officer Jim Knoll says officers responded to an ambulance call 510 Bellamy Lane shortly after 5:00 Saturday morning. Upon arrival, officers found a female later identified as 41-year old Leila Chanane with multiple lacerations and incisions throughout her body. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
Based on findings at the scene, investigators reportedly found her estranged husband 40-year old Hamid Houbbadi inside of a residence located at 508 Bellamy with apparent self-inflicted wounds. Police say it was determined Chanane was stabbed inside of the home during the confrontation. Investigators report a blood-stained knife inside the residence at 508 Bellamy Lane near the suspect which appeared to have been used during the attack and is consistent with the victim’s injuries.
According to police, the couple has a prior history of domestic violence in another jurisdiction and Chanane and Houbbadi were not living together at the time of the homicide.
Knoll indicates Houbbadi is in custody and being treated at a Nashville hospital for his injuries. When he is discharged, he will be served with a Criminal Homicide warrant.
