Two Charged After Pursuit In Hopkins County

A vehicle pursuit in Dawson Springs Wednesday night netted the arrest of a man and woman wanted by authorities on several warrants.

The pursuit began around 11:00 p.m. when a Hopkins County Sheriff’s deputy saw 35-year old Thomas Sowers get out of his vehicle at Casey’s General Store and discovered his license was suspended and he had several outstanding warrants for his arrest. Deputies tried to perform a traffic stop, but Sowers accelerated and tried to flee. After a short vehicle pursuit, deputies say Sowers lost control of his vehicle and spun out on East Walnut Street at which time he was taken into custody. Sowers was reportedly found in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana. His passenger, 35-year old Crystal Wimpey was also arrested on two warrants from Caldwell and Lyon counties.

Sowers was charged with fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana and meth, and three Hopkins County warrants for failure to appear.
