Hopkinsville Man Arrested After Hit And Run Accident

A Christian County man was arrested after hitting a vehicle Friday morning.

According to a Hopkinsville Police report, 29-year old Lonnie Stuart had struck another vehicle and left the scene of the accident. When officers caught up with Stuart, it was determined his vehicle registration had expired, and he did not have insurance. Stuart reportedly admitted to smoking marijuana minutes prior to the stop, and once in custody officers located a small baggie of synthetic marijuana in the vehicle.

Stuart is facing leaving the scene of an accident, his second offense of driving under the influence on a suspended license (aggravating circumstances), 2nd offense of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs (aggravating circumstances), and other offenses. He was lodged in the Christian County Jail.
