Hopkinsville Community College will start a new diesel technology program at the Todd County Career Path Institute beginning in January.
According to a release from the college, they will offer two courses, Introduction to Diesel Engines along with its Laboratory on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 4:00 to 8:00 from January 14 through May 12.
HCC Interim Chief Academic Officer Jim Hunter hopes they will continue to offer more diesel courses each term, and that they will gauge student interest when the classes begin.
Students will be able to pursue a variety of short-term certificates within the Diesel Technology Program which include; Agriculture Equipment Mechanic Help, Diesel Engine Mechanic, Electrical/Electronics Systems Mechanic, Fluid Power Mechanic, Heavy Duty Brake Mechanic, Mobile Air Conditioning Mechanic, and Preventative Maintenance Mechanic.
Hopkinsville Community College says all of the certificates are approved for the Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship program which provides Kentucky residents who meet minimal requirements with free tuition for short-term credentials.
