A Cadiz home was destroyed by fire Sunday morning, with the homeowner taken to Trigg County Hospital for smoke inhalation.
Cadiz Fire Chief Kerry Fowler says firefighters were called to 433 Hillview Drive around 1:00 Sunday morning.
He says the homeowner Elizabeth Whipple and her daughter Candace were able to escape from the home.
Fowler says Elizabeth Whipple was taken to Trigg County Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. He says some of the families pets were rescued from the home, but some did not make it.
Fowler says 10 firefighters responded to the call and remained on the scene for more than two and one-half hours. He adds the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
