Community Members Hear Priorities For 2019 Legislative Session

Kentucky’s infrastructure, tax code, and other important issues were presented as priorities for the 2019 session during the Legislative Update Eye Opener Breakfast hosted by the Christian County Chamber of Commerce Tuesday morning.

President/CEO of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Dave Adkisson says a decision could be made next week on the pension issue for the state.

Adkisson adds one of the issues they will discuss is infrastructure issues they would like to see resolved during the 2019 session.

According to Adkisson, another thing they would like to see changed is the state’s tax code. One thing many would like to see is the state’s income tax done away with so the state can bring in new jobs and be comparable to Tennessee.

President/CEO of the Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company Paul Thompson says businesses are an important piece to making sure these issues are corrected.

Other issues discussed during the breakfast included; reforming the bail system, improving the legal liability climate, enacting sports wagering, among other topics.
