The Calloway County Fiscal Court is a recipient of a federal grant from the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development to fund a project to improve safety, access, and mobility for motorists.
Governor Matt Bevin’s office announced Monday that Calloway County was awarded $23 million for the reconstruction and widening of US 641 from the Kentucky-Tennessee border to the Clarks River Bridge south of Murray. The existing two-lane roadway will be transformed into a four-lane highway meeting current design standards. Officials indicate this will improve safety and will provide a critical transportation link to Paris, Tennessee and Interstate 40.
The Owensboro Riverport Authority and the Pulaski County Fiscal Court were also awarded money for safety improvement projects. The state awarded over $59 million for all three projects. The maximum amount of BUILD funding awarded for each project cannot exceed $25 million, and no state can receive more than $150 million in funding.
