Kristopher Barker/Hopkins Co. Jail

A Georgia man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly stole a four-wheeler in Dawson Springs and then led police on a vehicle and foot pursuit.

The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office reports the four-wheeler was stolen on Olney Road in Dawson Springs Sunday and the suspect was seen loading it into a pickup truck near Highway 62. Detectives with the Madisonville/Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics Unit were conducting surveillance in the Dawson Springs area and tried to conduct a traffic stop on the truck for disregarding a stop sign, but the truck fled through Dawson Springs and into several fields near Highway 62. After losing sight of the truck, detectives terminated the pursuit. The suspect, 27-year Kristopher Baker of Dallas was spotted about an hour later and fled on foot but was quickly apprehended.

Barker was booked into the Hopkins County Jail charged with theft of the four-wheeler, possessing burglary tools, fleeing or evading police in a vehicle and on foot, two counts of wanton endangerment of a police officer, and traffic-related offenses from the pursuit.
