Jennie Stuart Health held a grand opening Tuesday morning for its new Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit that will help seniors battling mental health issues.
Director of Inpatient Psychiatric Services Lisa Grise tells the News Edge they opened the Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit because there was not a facility in this area that specialized in behavioral health needs for seniors.

She says they will be able to treat several mental health issues among seniors.
Grise notes it is a 12-bed unit for patients 65 years old and above, but she adds they can take patients that are 55 years old if they are leading a geriatric lifestyle. She adds they are slated to open and accept their first patient on December 31.
