Man Charged With Wanton Endangerment After Firing Gun

A shots fired call on North O’Neal Street in Hopkinsville Saturday night led to the arrest of a Louisville man.

Hopkinsville Police report officers responded to a home at 165 North O’Neal where the victim stated 56-year old Prentice Leavell arrived to pick up his girlfriend and was upset over a non-related incident. The victim asked Leavell to leave the residence, at which time he became upset with the victim and went out to his vehicle and removed his handgun and fired one shot in the air.

Police were able to locate Leavell’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at East 7th and Mechanic streets shortly before 10:30 p.m. During a search of the car, officers found a handgun in the back seat along with a glass pipe with drug residue inside it.

Leavell was taken into custody and lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, carrying a concealed deadly weapon by a felony offender, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
