The News Edge has learned there is a new traffic pattern on the Lake Barkley Bridge at Canton.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says one eastbound lane and one westbound lane opened to traffic. Todd says traffic was moved to the outside lanes on each side of the bridge.
Todd says the lane change will allow work to be completed on the Land Between the Lakes end of barrier wall. He says that work will likely be complete in March, which will allow all four lanes of the bridge to open. The walking path across the new Lake Barkley bridge reportedly remains closed to allow work to be completed on the path.
Reports indicate there was some initial confusion with drivers after the lane shift took place. Drivers are advised to use caution when driving through the area approaching the Lake Barkley bridge.
