The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of western Kentucky that will go into effect noon Saturday and expire at midnight Saturday night.
Meteorologists say rain will change over to snow Saturday afternoon with accumulations of less than an inch possible near the Tennessee border and up to 2 inches near the Ohio River.
They add the weather system will drop temperatures nearly 30 degrees in the matter of minutes which will cause flash freezing and the potential for black ice. In addition, gusty winds may produce reduced visibility where blowing snowfall is heavy.
