A Morganfield man was charged with first-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief after an alarm call at the post office Monday night.
According to Hopkinsville police 57-year-old Mark Cunningham was seen walking down the road dragging post office mail bags after police found the building broken into.
Cunningham reportedly told police he had done the burglary and that it had to be done.
The door was kicked in along with alarms, computers and documents had been tossed around the room.
The damage is valued at $10,000, according to the report.
