More than 700 Fort Campbell soldiers will return home beginning Saturday from a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan.
During their deployment, Fort Campbell officials say the “Task Force Destiny” 101st Combat Aviation Brigade provided aviation support to U.S. coalition and Afghan forces throughout the Combined Joint Operations Area-Afghanistan. Task Force Destiny exceeded 50,000 flight hours, transported more than seven million pounds of cargo and 91,000 passengers, and conducted 1,700 security missions and 256 air assault operations. Additionally, Army officials note five soldiers received the Distinguished Flying Cross for their heroism and valor.
The first two welcome home ceremonies will occur around 5:30 Saturday morning, February 2, and Monday afternoon at 4:30, February 4.
