3 Charged With Possession Of Drugs After Shoplifting Complaint In Hopkinsville

Two men and a woman are charged with possession of drugs after a shoplifting complaint Sunday.

According to a Hopkinsville Police Report, 66-year-old Russel Butler allegedly drove 48-year-old Johnny Austin and 32-year-old Sunshine Austin to stores to shoplift.

Police stopped them after a shoplifting complaint from Walmart and found marijuana on Johnny Austin after he reportedly took $38 dollars worth of merchandise from the store.

Sunshine Austin was reportedly found to have a syringe in her bra, methamphetamine on her along with, suspected heroin, a pill believed to be suboxone, drug paraphernalia and synthetic marijuana. She was also found to have a pill on her still as she was booked into the jail.

Police also found two guns loaded with restricted ammunition and a syringe in the vehicle.

Sunshine Austin is charged with third-degree criminal trespassing, possession of synthetic drugs, promoting contraband, illegal possession of a legend drug, tampering with physical evidence and three counts of first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

Johnny Austin is charged with theft by unlawful taking, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, second-degree possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, two counts of possession of a firearm by convicted felon and using restricted ammunition during a felony.

Butler was charged with theft by unlawful taking, using restricted ammunition during a felony, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
