Elkton Woman Dies In Todd County Wreck

Kentucky State Police say an Elkton woman died after her car ran off US 68/80 near Fairview and landed in a creek.

According to the Kentucky State Police report 73-year-old Helen Miller of Elkton was driving east on US 68 when her car crossed the median into the westbound lanes.  Her car then re-entered the median as she was approaching a bridge crossing.  Miller’s vehicle continued in the median, then hit a bridge abutment, became airborne and ran into a creek full of water.

Todd County Sheriff Tracey White told the News Edge on the scene Miller’s vehicle was found submerged in a creek off of U.S. 68 about two miles past Fairview. Upon investigation, deputies found the vehicle’s airbags deployed, an oxygen tank and a purse inside the vehicle but not the driver. The Todd County Rescue and Search team found the body of 73-year-old Helen Miller of Elkton in the water.

Kentucky State Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
