Highway Crews Preparing For Weekend Winter Weather Event

Kentucky highway crews are preparing for another round of winter weather this weekend.

Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says the District 2 Snow and Ice Team plans to pre-treat A and B Snow Priority Routes across the 11-county region to prepare for a round of winter mix followed by snow accumulation of one to two inches along the Ohio River border counties with maybe a 1/2 inch farther south.

Todd says the District 2 Supertanker should have enough time to treat the driving lane of most interstates and parkways.

Highway crews will also be on call Sunday with trucks loaded and ready to roll on short notice as the snow arrives.

Todd indicates crews will be doing their part to treat highways to improve safety. They ask motorists to do your part by checking your tire tread, adjusting travel speed to meet localized driving conditions, and using appropriate caution anytime they encounter a snow plow at work.

District 2 includes the counties of Caldwell, Christian, Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, Hopkins, McLean, Muhlenberg, Ohio, Union, and Webster.
