Prosecutor Seeking Life In Prison in Marshall School Shooting Case

The teenager accused in a deadly shooting at Marshall County High School will not face the death penalty if convicted.

According to WPSD Channel 6 in Paducah, the Commonwealth of Kentucky filed a motion last week saying it intends to seek life in prison without probation or parole until Gabriel Parker had served a minimum of 25 years of his sentence. Prosecutor Dennis Foust said the death penalty is not an option in the case and he is seeking the maximum.

Parker is facing two counts of murder and 14 counts of first-degree assault in connection to the January 23, 2018 shooting at the high school that claimed the lives of 15-year old Bailey Holt and 15-year old Preston Cope and injured several others.

The Commonwealth also has reportedly asked that a trial date be set which will take about 20 days.
