The retired editor of the Princeton Times Leader will soon be leaving following an appointment to a magazine that is geared toward Kentucky Baptists.
Chip Hutcheson has been named the interim managing editor of the Western Recorder, a statewide Baptist newspaper that has recently been converted to a monthly magazine. Hutcheson says that beginning last March he felt he was being called to serve somewhere outside of Princeton. He adds that it took about a year for a door to finally open, but when it did, things moved quickly.

Hutcheson says that while he didnt ever think he would return to the publishing business he and his wife, Karen, are very excited about working for the magazine.

He notes that when he retired from the newspaper he expected the rest of his lifes work would be to preach from the pulpit but believes working for the Western Recorder will still lead to him preaching across the state.

Hutcheson began his duties on Friday but says that he will work remotely until about the beginning of April when he and Karen will relocate to Louisville.Hutcheson, who worked 41 years as a newspaper publisher in Princeton, also owned and operated the Times Leader from 1976 to 1992 before it sold to Kentucky New Era. Hutcheson continued on as publisher until his retirement in 2017.
