More information has been released about a wreck at the intersection of East 9th Street and South Campbell Street Thursday morning.
According to a Hopkinsville Police report, 57-year-old Stephen Hayes was westbound when his vehicle ran off the road and hit a large sign.
Police believe the wreck could have been caused by a medical problem but he was upright in the vehicle and wearing a seatbelt during the wreck. No skid marks were found leading police to think he didn’t attempt to stop.
When police arrived Hayes was unconscious and had no pulse and they began chest compressions. He was taken to the Jennie Stuart Medical Center by ambulance with CPR in progress then flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where he is listed in stable condition.
