Man Charged With Holding Woman At Gunpoint

A Hopkinsville man was charged after he allegedly held a woman at gunpoint on Mclean Avenue Wednesday morning.

According to a Hopkinsville Police report, 42-year-old Dethaniel Thompson came home after working 12-hours and accused his girlfriend 63-year-old Bernetta Watkins of cheating.

He reportedly fired his gun in the bedroom of the home then pointed the gun at her making her sit at the kitchen table and place her hands on the table.

He pointed the gun at her and continued to accuse her of cheating as he fired a round into the floor with the gun by her head.

She was reportedly held at the table for 30 minutes. He is charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment, possession of a handgun by convicted felon and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

The incident happened March 6th but was reported to police on March 10th.
