Mayors, Judge/Executives, and other area officials learned about severe weather during the monthly meeting of the Pennyrile Area Development District Monday afternoon.
Paducah National Weather Service Warning Coordination Meteorologist Rick Shanklin spoke about a number of weather events that have affected the region over the last few years.
One of which included the dangers of the recent flooding, including the death of a 59-year old male from Marshall County who passed away after his girlfriend had driven through floodwaters in McCracken County.

He notes six inches of swiftly moving water moving can make a vehicle lose control, with a few feet of water able to sweep it off the roadway.

Shanklin also discussed the difference between a watch and a warning.
