A 17-year old Benton girl was killed in a single-vehicle wreck on West 12th Street Friday night.
Benton Police report a preliminary investigation revealed the female driver was eastbound on West 12th Street shortly after 11:00 p.m. when her vehicle traveled off the left shoulder of the road and crashed head-on into a concrete culvert in the 400 block. Police say the teenager was not wearing her seatbelt and died from her injuries in the ambulance while being transported to the Marshall County Hospital.
Because the female was a juvenile, police say her name is being withheld.
Benton Police are continuing to investigate the fatal crash.
