Dollar General Infant Cough Syrup Is Being Recalled

A cough syrup made for babies sold at Dollar General is being recalled due to the potential it could produce two forms of gastrointestinal illnesses.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports the DG-health Naturals Baby Cough Syrup + Mucus was contaminated with small levels of two bacteria that are known to cause vomiting and diarrhea.

They note no illnesses have been reported to date in connection with medicine and that infants, young children, and others with weakened immune systems are at an increased risk of getting sick from the bacteria.

The product comes in a carton labeled DG™/health baby Cough Syrup + Mucus in a 2-fluid ounce bottle marked with Lot number KL180157, expiration date of 11/20, and the bottle label UPC Code is 8 54954 00250 0. Production of the product has been suspended while the FDA and Kingston Pharma, LLC continue their investigation into the source of the problem.

Consumers who have purchased Lot KL180157 of the medicine can return it at any Dollar General location for a full refund.
