He noted there were over 600 essays written by middle school students attending each of the five public and private middle schools in Hopkinsville. The top 62 essayists were invited to a day-long field trip to the campus of Murray State University last month.
Through the county-wide competition, the students earned cash prizes ranging from $25 for those essays judged 2nd through 10th place and $50 for the 1st place essay.
The top ten Mayors Scholars are as follows:
1st Place – Chloe Ginn, of Heritage Christian Academy
2nd Place – Lanie Bivins, of Christian County Middle School
3rd Place – McKenzi Travis, of Heritage Christian Academy
4th Place – Carly Chaudoin, of Saints Peter and Paul
5th Place – Allie Fort, of Hopkinsville Middle School
6th Place – Chaney Guffey, of Hopkinsville Middle School
7th Place – Jeremiah Kay, of Heritage Christian Academy
8th Place – Adriana Maya, of Christian County Middle School
9th Place – Lynzie Brasher, of Christian County Middle School
10th Place – Elizabeth Langhi, of Saints Peter and Paul
