A Hopkinsville Police lieutenant has graduated from the FBI National Academy Program. Authorities say Lt. Kyle Spurlin graduated in the academy’s 275th Session of the Academy in Quantico, Virginia on March 15.
The program, which was established by the FBI in 1935, is a professional course of study for U.S. and international law enforcement executive leaders. The 275th class was represented by 47 states, 26 international countries, five military organizations, five federal civilian organizations, and the District of Columbia.
Spurlin said not only did participants learn from the FBI’s senior instructors, but they also learned from each other. He added the exchange of information over the ten-week course from both sources will be invaluable to the City of Hopkinsville. Spurlin noted the resources of the Academy will be a huge benefit to the Department.
The Academy’s course curriculum consists of advanced investigative, management, leadership and fitness training. To participate in the program, a law enforcement official must be nominated.
Spurlin has been with the Hopkinsville Police Department since July 2003. He has served the department as a Police Training Officer, ATF Task Force Officer, Detective Supervisor, Public Information Officer, and Crime Stoppers Coordinator.
