The deputy was not injured and Melton was treated for minor injuries.
He is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, speed unsafe for conditions, theft by unlawful taking, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, reckless driving, failure of non-owner to maintain required insurance, improper display of registration and operator’s license to be in possession.
He also had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear out of Christian County. He is lodged at the Christian County Jail.
