Man Charged With Reckless Homicide Arraigned Wednesday

A Hopkinsville man, indicted last week for reckless homicide and DUI in the death of a Cadiz woman, appeared for his arraignment in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon. Defense attorney Bill Deatherage and his client, Brandon Pickett, appeared before Judge Andrew Self and entered a not guilty plea.

Deatherage also requested Pickett’s ankle monitor be removed with Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling agreeing, under certain conditions.

Judge Self asked if Pickett was subject to any drug or alcohol testing. Deatherage said it’s never been a condition and disagreed when Boling stated he wants Pickett to be randomly tested.

The charges stem from August 28, 2018, when deputies reported 49-year old Trina McAllister Akin of Cadiz fell out of a Jeep Pickett was driving on Striped Bridge Road in Christian County.

Pickett will be back in court for a pretrial conference on July 24 at 1:00 p.m.
