The Cadiz-Trigg County Planning Commission narrowly approved a request to designate a property located off Phoenix Drive as a multi-residential property for a proposed senior housing facility Tuesday evening.
Chairman Bob Brame says this is the first step in potentially seeing the facility built on the property.
Architect Rick Kremer shared more details on the design of the proposed project.

Beacon Property Management President/CEO Travis Yates notes the facility will provide affordable housing for seniors 55 years of age and older and will not serve as an assisted living home.
During public comments, Tosh, Kremer, and Yates answered numerous questions from concerned residents who live on Dove Circle, which is just south of the property. One question that was asked multiple times was about property values for the residents, some of which recently moved into the neighborhood. Yates assured them that other senior housing projects like this have not brought down property values, especially in cities like Louisville.
After hearing everything, Brame reminded members the only thing the planning commission is to do is approve the zoning designation.

During the vote, Ken Culwell and Tommy Dunn voted against it, with Mike Heffington and Ken Oakley voting for it. With the 2-2 vote, Brame broke the tie and voted for the zoning designation of R-2.
Cadiz City Council members will hear public comments and the first reading concerning the annexation of property into the city limits during their regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday evening, April 2 at 6:00. The second reading and voting on the issue will occur during a special called meeting Wednesday afternoon.
The council meets in the upstairs portion of the Cadiz City Hall on Main Street.
