More than 100 soldiers will be returning home to Fort Campbell Thursday after being deployed in East Africa for several months.
Fort Campbell officials say the soldiers are assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). The ‘Blue Spader’ soldiers were deployed to Djibouti in October of last year and made up elements of the East African Response Force and provided a combat-ready deployment capability to support crisis operations in U.S. Africa Command Area Responsibility.
A welcome home ceremony will be held Thursday afternoon at Fort Campbell’s Hangar 3.
