One of Christian County’s oldest residents is celebrating a huge birthday this weekend.
Carrie McGee, who will be turning 106, had the opportunity to celebrate with family, friends, and community officials at Active Day in Hopkinsville Friday afternoon.
McGee’s son Gilbert Webb tells the News Edge living to the age of 100 runs in the family, as his Aunt Lottie recently celebrated her 98th birthday.

Active Day Program Manager Darla Gallagher says they absolutely love McGee and are so happy to celebrate the huge milestone with her.
Christian County Judge/Executive Steve Tribble presented a proclamation to McGee.
Eighth District State Representative Walker Thomas presented her with a citation on behalf of the House of Representatives.

McGee will celebrate on Sunday by attending her home church, Gainsville Baptist Church.
When asked by the News Edge what is McGee’s secret to living so long, family members say she has always said “you wanna aim to live to be 100” and that you should always use forgiveness.
