Thirteen Christian County Public School students have been selected to be 2019 members of the Governor’s Scholars Program.
Communications Director John Rittenhouse reports 1,020 students or 55% of the total pool of applicants were accepted into the program. The Governor’s Scholars Program strives to enhance Kentucky’s next generation of civic and economic leaders. The program was established in 1983 and provides academic and personal growth through the balance of a strong liberal arts program with a full co-curricular and residential life experience.
The students selected include Mary Campbell, Hannah Croom, Greer Givens, Bryce Hanson, Lauren Langhi, Ashlyn Montgomery, Cameron Poland, Garrett Pyle, Bryce Robinson, John Schmitt, Jaylon Taggart, Abeni Thomas, and Hutchinson Williams. Five students were also selected as alternates for the program, which could go based on spaces that become available.
Jaylon Taggart, a junior at Hopkinsville High School is also 1 of 256 students selected to attend the Governor’s School for the Arts this summer. Taggart was selected in the area of Instrumental Music – Tuba.
